Vibe coding describes a workflow where a human directs an AI in natural language and the AI handles the implementation. "Make me a habit tracker with login and dark mode" produces working code in minutes. The human reviews the vibe (does it work, does it look right) rather than reading every line.
The term was popularized by Andrej Karpathy in early 2025 and quickly entered mainstream developer vocabulary.
