Hugging Face quietly built one of the best free AI engineering curricula in the world. The Agents Course (free, 5 units + capstone, 200K+ certifications issued by mid-2026), the LLM Course (free, 12 chapters covering transformers through fine-tuning), and the newer MCP Course (free, deep-dive into Model Context Protocol). All free, all taught by Hugging Face research engineers, all with running code in Google Colab.
The trade-off: Hugging Face content leans toward the open-source stack — Transformers library, datasets, PEFT, smolagents. If you live on the OpenAI or Anthropic API, the patterns transfer but the examples don't run as-is. That's a small price for the depth and zero cost.
