Anthropic AI courses (2026) — Claude, MCP, agents

Anthropic's developer education portfolio is small but uniformly high-quality. Every entry is vendor-authored and free.

Anthropic ships less course content than OpenAI but at materially higher quality. Their developer education materials are written by the engineers who built the underlying systems — the prompt engineering interactive tutorial, the Claude Code official course, the MCP intro, and the Anthropic Cookbook. All free, all hosted under Anthropic's own domains, all updated continuously.

The right way to use Anthropic's portfolio: start with the prompt engineering interactive tutorial (free, ~3-6 hours, runs in Jupyter or Google Sheets). If you build with Claude or Cursor, take the Claude Code official course next. If you're integrating LLMs with proprietary tools, the MCP intro (DeepLearning.AI co-published) is non-negotiable.

What you won't find in Anthropic's library: classical ML, fine-tuning of non-Anthropic models, broad LLM internals. For those, supplement with Hugging Face or Coursera. Anthropic's lane is applied-Claude depth.

Frequently asked questions

Are all Anthropic courses free?+

Yes — Anthropic doesn't sell courses. Their developer education portfolio (prompt engineering tutorial, Claude Code course, MCP intro, Anthropic Cookbook) is 100% free and hosted on Anthropic's own domains.

Do I need a paid Claude subscription to take Anthropic courses?+

No for the courses themselves. The hands-on labs work with the free Anthropic API tier (rate-limited, but enough to complete the courses). For sustained use after, the $20/mo Pro plan covers casual development.
